Harbour Exchange

Client: Metrus Ltd

The brief:

Harbour Exchange, Towers 1 & 2 are managed, 16 storey office buildings amounting to 500,000 sq. feet in the heart of the Docklands area. Constructed in 1989, recent inspections noted that the existing perimeter fire compartment between the concrete floors and the facade required replacement to ensure the overall fire strategy of the two buildings is compliant.

The solution:

Engaged as principal contractor, Fire Barrier Services were employed to undertake essential maintenance throughout both buildings. Working on a single floor level at one time, Fire Barrier Services were responsible for the removal and safe storage of the existing raised access flooring panels. Following the removal of these, the next stage was to install Siderise CW-FS120 perimeter fire stop system, complete with Siderise galvanised support brackets, fixing the existing concrete floor slab in accordance with their installation and recommendations. This completed solution then provided the client and the building with 120 minutes fire resistance between floor compartments and satisfied the buildings overall fire strategy.

Following inspection and approval of the installation by the clients representative and the approved inspector, the raised access flooring panels were reinstated and the floor level handed back to the client.
